The New Piermont Historic District
Piermont now contains Rockland's newest historic district. It joins the two Orangetown historic areas in Tapppan and Palisades, and the Clarkstown Historic District in West Nyack. On Saturday, June 9, the dedication of the Piermont Historic District will take place at the newly restored Rockland Road bridge between Ferdon and Piermont Avenues at 11 A.M. A reception will follow at the Outside In in Piermont, sponsored by the Piermont Historical Society. The scene will be made livlier by the Old Number 7 Band. It has taken quite some time, but more and more communities are seeing the benefits of architectural preservation and historic districting.
