Piermont Restaurants Compete with Piermont Real Estate
Known for it's proximity to the Hudson River, Piermont offers some of the most valuable real estate in the county. It is also home to a host of amazing restaurants that offer a variety of cuisines and upscale, yet cozy, atmospheres.
On a stormy summer day, I had the pleasure of sampling a bit of what Piermont's restaurant scene serves up at lunchtime. At Freelance Cafe and Wine Bar(506 Piermont Ave), where the environment is warm, friendly and bustling, it was a full house. We were able to find a spot at the bar and choose from an extensive variety of wines. We also indulged in an order of the mushroom ravioli-amazing! Not only was the wine and food enjoyable and comforting but the bartender was a gem and made us feel right at home. This place is comfy AND highend, a perfect mix. I am looking forward to a return visit so I can sample more of the menu.
Our second stop was Confetti Ristorante and Vinoteca (200 Ash Street). Closer to the water and complete with floor to ceiling windows, we could see the approaching storm that day and also a clear shot of the Tappan Zee Bridge. The views here are spectacular during the day; I can only imagine what they must be like on a clear night. We sat in the front room which houses a beautiful, solid wood bar, several tables for seating, and a wall of doors that on a drier day can be completely opened. The high ceilings and plentiful amount of windows give this space an open, airy feel, which compliments the picturesque views. We ordered the Fritto Misto(lightly battered and fried seafood platter) and the Brick Oven Pizza. Perhaps high in calorie, these dishes are definitely soul warming and delicious, which seemed to be appropriate as it began to downpour and the temperature began to drop. Another trip here for dinner is a must.
All in all, my lunchtime experience in Piermont was so much fun and incredibly delicious. I consider it just a morsel of what Piermont has to offer in the way of restaurants. I can't wait to continue my research. Next on my list is the new and improved Lighthouse on the Hudson menu and a trip to Sidewalk Bistro...stay tuned!
